I'm going to sum up the new Joey Bada$$ album in as few words as possible so you can get back to the album itself.
First of all, it's political as all get out (duh). Tracks like the opener and "LAND OF THE FREE" hammer home the point that this is going to be an album about strife and people's place in this country of ours. It's not exactly like his old stuff, but still manages to recapture why we rocked with him in the first place, mainly through the bars themselves and some of the production. It's gritty as all hell without erasing your face in the process.
Plus, Joey's rapping real spit on trap-esque beats, kind of like how folks like Lupe, Cole (who features here on "LEGENDARY"), K.R.I.T. and Kendrick have been doing recently. So, that's refreshing, but may throw some folks off from it if they're full-out expecting 95 til Infinity Bada$$. The album goes in a lot of ways and shows a critical evolution in the journey of Joey Bada$$ that some may've not seen coming. I just wish/hope that this one would get more play outside of the websites and whatnot. This is a beautifully aggressive and reality-based album for these trying times. It doesn't sugarcoat anything for anyone.
Anywho, check it out below and remember to support dope music in all its forms wherever it resides.
