The rap remix of an R&B song is a lost art in these days. Most songs just blend the two together non-stop and have singers who can rap and rappers who can (at times) sing. But, do you remember the days of the "So So Def" remixes of tracks such as "Somebody's Sleeping in My Bed?" Classic stuff, but it's a sign of the times. Some things have to get left to the side to further evolution.
However, when I hear an old-school-like "rap remix" of a track these days, it's refreshing to my ears and takes me back to those old days where you'd have Method Man hop on random R&B tracks (typically something with Mary). Such is the case on Consequence's remix of Kehlani's "Keep On." Consequence spits a minute-plus on the remix, touching topic from infidelity to insecurity (while dropping an Insecure reference in the mix).
