When I started the site now known as SpeedontheBeat.com, I was going through a lot. I'd recently broken up with my son's mother, was going through emotional turmoil, and self-medicated with alcohol and the like. Writing on the site, even just to talk about One Year Later, was therapy for me. Since I couldn't really speak to people about what I was going through, I just wrote about it.
As time went on, I began to realize that I could do more than wallow in my own self-pity and actually use my growing fan base for the betterment of the world, be it through music, hard-hitting discussions, or just talking about my plights with mental illness. So, I did what any self-respecting journalist-at-heart would do: I bought the site name and began expanding.
It's been almost five years since I started SpeedontheBeat.com. It's my baby. I have no plans of stopping, of course, but it's been a daunting, but beautiful journey to this point. I thank all of the supporters of the site, my SOTB family, and everyone who I've ever covered or interviewed for the site. Without you all, none of this could've happened.
Now that this little ramble is out the way, let's talk some more new shit.
