While this is an everyone should already know this story, it's still pretty dope. Kendrick Lamar, fresh off winning several Grammy Awards for To Pimp A Butterfly, has been selected to induct legendary rap group N.W.A. into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 8th. The ceremony, airing 4/30 on HBO, features inductions of rock groups Cheap Trick, Chicago, and Deep Purple into the fraternity, along with solo icon Steve Miller. N.W.A., as one of the few hip-hop acts to be inducted thus far, is breaking down a couple barriers; N.W.A. is the first batch of gangsta rap inductees. Could this open the doors for other gangsta rap--and 90s rap in general--pioneers getting their ticket? Only time will tell (I do feel Tupac, Snoop, and company aren't too far off from getting a nomination, but that's another story).
Congratulations to N.W.A., to the other inductees, and to Kendrick Lamar.
