If you've taken a look over here today, you'd have noticed that "Speed on the Beat Presents" is now officially SpeedontheBeat.com. What that means is simply that this is the first step in the "Serious Speed Initiative" aka the "Twenty-Seven Club Complex." For those who don't know, a lot of musicians have died during their twenty-seventh year, including Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, and Amy Winehouse. The Twenty-Seven Club Complex, to me, is simple: do all that I can musically (including reviews, etc.) before the beginning of my 27th year. If I've done nothing in the field by August 2015, then, as I stated in several songs, "it ain't my lane" and I'm getting out before I become a thirty-year old rookie--or before I allow my genius/drugs/alcohol/crazy women to overtake my life and send me up the river without a paddle.
If I do find some semblance of accomplishment by that August 2015 date, I still am leaving it all behind, but may continue in a reduced role (read: as a blogger/journalist). Again, the fear that I've always had is that I'll be that thirty-year-old who is putting out his first single (that sounds HI-fi, mind you), or that 37-year-old who's done this for decades and is just being recognized. I don't want that for myself or for my family.
So, I've got two years, two months, and about 10 hours to do something special.
Might as well get back to work.
